Mortgage rates for existing customers
A product transfer, also referred to as ‘mortgage rates for existing customers’, is typically the quickest and easiest way to secure a new mortgage deal. However, a product transfer doesn’t always offer the most competitive rates. In some cases, existing customers do not have access to the same competitive deals that new customers get access to. This is known as the ‘loyalty tax’ on existing customers which can penalise rather than reward their loyalty.
To ensure you’re getting the most suitable and cost-effective mortgage deal we’ll carry out a full market cost comparison to compare rates offered by your current lender with those available elsewhere on the market.
Whether you’re an existing client of Farnham Finance, or a new client, we’ll complete your product transfer free of charge.

What is a product transfer?
Do you need a Mortgage Broker for a Rate Switch with Halifax?
I would always recommend speaking with Farnham Finance before applying for any Mortgage. Halifax will offer exactly the same rates through a Mortgage Broker as they will directly. By coming through a Broker, I will monitor rates until completion of the Product Transfer, if more competitive rates become available then I will notify you and discuss the new rates with you. We can then select the most competitive product with you from there. Before submitting the Product Transfer, I will also give you a full cost comparison against the rest of the market to make sure that we are selecting the best product for your needs and circumstances. I will also monitor the renewal date for you, so we can look at the right options well ahead of the end of the next rate.
If we select a Product Transfer, there is no fee from my side and I provide a full advised service and ongoing care for free.
Which accounts are eligible for a Halifax Rate Switch?
- If you have moved abroad since you took out the original Mortgage
- If there is more than 90 days to go until your current deal ends
- If there are any arrears on the accounts.
When can you apply for a Halifax Rate Switch?
You will need to be within 4 months of the current Rate ending on your account to apply for a BM Solutions Product Transfer.
I would always suggest reviewing options as early as possible. I can secure rates from the rest of the market up to 6 months before the end of the current Fixed Rate. With that, we generally prevent rates getting any higher and can adjust the application to secure a more favourable rate if required.
What is my Process for an application for a Halifax Rate Switch?
The first step with any Halifax Rate Switch is checking the Bespoke Rates available with Halifax. To do that, I will need to login to your account with Halifax and check the rates available. At that point Halifax will also give me a range of useful information to compare their products against the rest of the market. Things like their valuation of the property, term remaining and exact balance on the Mortgage.
To make sure that I am keeping your data safe, I do need to ask you to provide me with Proof of ID and Proof of Address, so that I can run a quick ID check and make sure that I am not giving out confidential information to the wrong person. Quick photos of your Passport and Driving Licence would be ideal there and you can WhatsApp those to me on 07886 215828.
I will then assess Halifax’s best available rates for your Mortgage against the rest of the market and provide tailored advice for your circumstances.
